What’s Important In A Pool Builder?
We all understand that building a new pool or even looking to renovate your existing family pool is a big decision. As soon as your builder cuts into earth it’s almost too late to switch, which is why we thought it would be good to list a few things which will help you make the right decision.
1. Make sure your pool builder is licensed, qualified and insured.
This may seem pretty straight forward but it pays to check. Your prospective pool builder may have a flashy car/ute, they may have a great website and nice business cards but be sure to check they are licensed, qualified and insured.
2. Check with the Pool and SPA association for complaints
Again similar to the above, not all great pool builders are members of the association but a quick phone call to see may save you alot of headache. Don’t just check the business name, check the business owner as well.
3. Do your homework and ask for client testimonials and check them.
Ask for testimonials of previous work and get the customer contact details. Be sure to have an actual conversation with them, and if possible meet their previous customers face to face to check the pool and have a genuine conversation with them about how the whole experience was.
4. Get a fixed price quotation and accepted completion date.
Be sure to have a clear contract with inclusions and understand exclusions (whats not included). Make sure you and your builder are on the same page and everything is agreed in writing, not just verbal. Have the expected completion date and what happens if the builder goes over.
Experience Counts!
All in all sometimes things happen, but by following the above tips will help ensure your new pool construction projects is a success. Remember nobody is perfect, but in the pool industry experience counts!
